Now Hiring at Contrarian Thinking Capital

We're hiring for two roles: Investment Principal and Head of Investor Relations.
I'll tell you what we're looking for, what we invest in, and how you can apply.
Our Thesis
We don't invest in the obvious. Construction and skilled trades. Industrial automation. Solutions for companies still on spreadsheets that build, fix, and maintain the physical world.
That's always been the thesis. I've written the long version of it in Why we invest in the Dumb, Dull, Dirty & Dangerous at CT Capital.
Now we're hiring two people who want to back what's real.
Investment Principal
An investor who can own the deal. Sourcing it, underwriting it, and supporting the company long after the wire clears. It's a partner-track seat, and it sits at the center of the investment side of the fund, working directly with both General Partners.
We're deliberately leaving fixed experience and pedigree requirements aside. The people who do well in this seat tend to share a few traits:
You've built or operated something. An entrepreneurial background is the strongest signal. Consulting or banking on top of that is a real plus, because it means you can model and structure as well as recognize.
You can underwrite. Fluent in unit economics, and you know the most important part of diligence is often the assumption everyone else took for granted.
You generate dealflow. Founders call you before they raise, not after.
Unglamorous industries interest you. Waste management, HVAC, metal fabrication, facilities services. If those bore you, this isn't your seat.
You do the fieldwork. The facility tour, the imperfect data room, the twenty customer calls it takes to get to the truth.
We're seeing more opportunities than we can chase, diligence, and support. This role fixes that.
Head of Investor Relations
Someone to own the capital side of the fund. Raising it, keeping it, and running the operations behind it. This role sits between our General Partners, our limited partners, and our fund administration.
We're leaving the years-of-experience bar aside here too, but this is work for someone who has done it before and done it well:
You've raised capital. You understand how allocators think, and you know the difference between a meeting and a commitment.
You understand how a fund works. Capital calls, distributions, subscription documents, LPAs, fund administration and DDQs are familiar territory, not a learning curve.
You're AI-native. Fluent in agentic workflows, and you can see how to turn our audience into a repeatable engine for both deal flow and prospective investors.
You write with precision. The kind of writing that increases an investor's confidence.
You're discreet. You'll handle confidential financial and investor information, and we need full confidence it's in careful hands.
Right now that work is split across two General Partners who also need to be sourcing and closing deals. The quality of our LP base over the next few years is largely going to be a function of how well this seat is run.
How to Apply
Both positions are based in Austin, Texas, and both are full-time in office. If you'd rather be right than consensus, and you're curious about how things work at the atomic level, especially the boring parts, apply at one of the links below.
